Inside BayToday

We get our fair share of complaints at BayToday, like at any media outlet I've ever worked at. I think we become an easy target because we have such a high profile.
Some are amusing, and I'll give a recent example.
A BayToday reader has friends who enjoy spending time in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, over the winter. He sent me a picture of the campground they were staying at, and it was covered in five inches of snow...highly unusual. As well, temperatures had plummeted and hit minus 8 overnight.
After I wrote and posted the story, I got an angry email from an American woman who lived in that area.
She accused me of spreading misinformation and said it never got close to being that cold in Myrtle Beach. "DO YOUR RESEARCH," she demanded in all caps.
At first, I was taken aback. The story was true, and the facts were correct. What could she possibly be complaining about?
Then, it dawned on me. Being American, she used the Fahrenheit scale while we use Celsius. There's quite a difference.
I pointed that out to her. To her credit, she sent me a sheepish apology and all was forgiven. I had to chuckle over that one.
You can read that story below.
